Magnetic Particle Examination (MT) is the is the most common method of NDT/NDE used for the inspection of ferromagnetic chair lift parts. Depending on the criteria issued by the ski lift manufacturer, either or both dry magnetic particle and wet magnetic particle ( fluorescent or nonfluorescent) examination are employed to detect surface or slightly subsurface discontinuities.

Gregory W. Floor, ASNT NDT Level III, is the MT course instructor for Wasatch NDT LLC. Personnel training sessions can be conducted onsite at your ski resort or at various facilities in Salt Lake City.
